Project Description
This project is located along a 2.3-mile greenway that forms the western edge of the IUPUI campus, and runs from the White River State Park, through the Lilly Arbor restored forest, and extends to Martin Park (along Fall Creek). The project will install educational signage and web-link electronic tags on trees and iconic landmarks along the greenway to provide visitors with information about the area’s history, vegetation, wildlife, and the continuing evolution of the IUPUI peninsula. The project will contribute to an integrated network of hiking trails for Indianapolis residents and IUPUI students, staff, and faculty. At the project’s inauguration, a tree-planting ceremony, headlined by campus luminaries (chancellors, deans, directors), will be organized to memorialize the campus 50th anniversary, and the 20th anniversary of the Lilly Arbor restored forest.
