Project Description
Faculty and staff from SPEA’s IU Public Policy Institute, the Fairbanks School of Public Health, the Office of Community Engagement, the Herron School of Art and Design, and the Division of Student Affairs (Office of the Campus Center and Student Experiences), are partnering with the Immigrant Welcome Center to develop the multidisciplinary RHYME (Resilience, Healing, YOU, Mindfulness, Expression refugee youth mentoring program. To address the needs of refugee youth and their families, this collaborative team is implementing a year-long program that began with an intensive week-long summer camp (held on the IUPUI camp July 17-21, 2017), with the primary goal of building resiliency skills for refugee teens residing in the Indianapolis area. This program will build upon the strong framework of the well-established Your Life. Your Story. (YLYS) annual Latino Youth Summit led by Dr. Silvia Bigatti from the Fairbanks School of Public Health.
