Internationalization at IUPUI

Internationalization is a strategic priority at IUPUI. With a record number of international students, a strong history of educational and research partnerships in countries around the world, and a steadily increasing number of study abroad opportunities, our development of strategic international partnerships and comprehensive campus internationalization are nationally recognized models for promoting broad and deep collaborative relationships at home and abroad.

Chancellor Nasser H. Paydar has led IUPUI delegations on trips to the Middle East, southeast Asia, and Latin America with a special focus on identifying academic and research opportunities for IUPUI students and faculty, to strengthen global partnerships, and to connect with IUPUI alumni around the world. Select trips have been chronicled in blog posts, photos, and video.

Thailand 2018

In October 2018, Chancellor Paydar is leading a delegation to Thailand, visiting key university partners in Bangkok and Nakhon Si Thammarat. In addition to the chancellor, delegates from the Schools of Science, Engineering and Technology, Informatics and Computing, and Public Health will also be meeting with officials at the Ministry of Science and Technology as well as a key partner from the National Institute of Development Administration, which IU helped to found in 1968.  No doubt, one of the highlights of the trip will be the alumni reception in Bangkok and the reconnections we will make with our remarkable graduates.

Mexico 2018

In January 2018, Chancellor Paydar led a delegation to Mexico, visiting key university partners in Mexico City and Monterrey. Following President's McRobbie's trip to Mexico in 2016, this IUPUI delegation concentrated on building partnerships with schools of dentistry, public health, nursing, law, and engineering and technology. An alumni gathering was among the high points of the trip for reconnecting with graduates and sharing updates about IUPUI and IU.
