Project Description
This project includes a two-day symposium engaging historically underrepresented graduate students, post-doctoral scholars, and faculty in interactive workshops, panels, and candid conversations around successfully transitioning to a faculty role. The goals are to provide insight into the process of interviewing and attaining faculty positions; to engage prospective faculty members in conversations on the future of higher education, faculty responsibilities, and navigating the promotion and tenure process; and to familiarize potential faculty members with the Indianapolis campus. The forum will be relatively small—between 15 and 20 participants—with priority given to scholars from minoritized backgrounds who are completing their doctoral research. Faculty will engage with student participants and serve as informal mentors throughout the forum.
