Project Description
This new mentoring program will include all academic programs at IU Fort Wayne and will consist of multiple group mentoring events designed to break down social barriers, build peer-to-peer mentor relationships, and provide group bonding within the pre-major student bodies. Mentees in the program will connect with others in their desired major and be mentored by third- and fourth-year students and recent graduates of the major. Group mentoring events will lead to more personal one-on-one mentoring relationships that will last throughout students’ academic careers and beyond. Additionally, upper-level mentors will learn important leadership skills that will benefit them greatly. Overall benefits include increased GPAs, increased acceptance rates into academic programs, and improved retention and graduation rates.
