Bridge to the Future Grants


  • IUPUI, IUPUC, and IU Fort Wayne full-time faculty and staff members
  • Priority consideration for projects that have a direct benefit to students or in which students are actively engaged

Funding Levels

  • Single-unit Proposals: Up to $5,000 (units may submit multiple proposals though the maximum awarded to any single-unit is $5,000)
  • Multiple-unit Proposals: Up to $10,000 (requires collaboration of at least two units; funding for multiple-unit proposals does not count toward the single-unit maximum noted above)

How to Apply for Funding

  • Develop a proposal of up to three pages that includes the following elements (use the proposal template as a tool for developing the proposal):
    • Project title
    • Unit(s) involved in the proposal
    • Name(s), title(s), and contact information of individual(s) submitting the proposal
    • Brief description of the project
    • Goals for the project
    • Audiences involved in or benefitting from projects
      • Please be specific as to the scope of the audience; include a description of the audience and the approximate numbers of students, faculty, staff, or other stakeholders intended to be engaged in the project.
      • While not required, projects that also address areas of immediate need or build the foundation for new initiatives at IUPUI, IUPUC, or IU Fort Wayne will receive extra consideration. (See Appendix for sample projects)
      • Outline plan for marketing to and communicating with specific audiences.
    • Approaches designed to promote engagement through the project
    • Timeline for the project
      • All projects must occur between January 1, 2023, and June 30, 2023.
    • Brief discussion of how the event, activity, or initiative will be evaluated
    • Brief discussion of how the project is related to other engagement strategies already planned or implemented
    • For multiple-unit proposals, brief discussion of the ways each unit will collaborate with each other, including the specific roles and responsibilities of each unit.
    • Proposals should include support letters from the leader of all units involved.
    • Project budget must be detailed on provided budget template.
      • Budget requests must be in accordance with IU policies.

  • Due by 5 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2022

  • Email proposals, inclusive of support letters and any supplemental items as appendices, to by the deadline above.

  • Notification via email by Thursday, December 15, 2022
  • Fund disbursement in early January 2023

  • All funded projects will be showcased on the chancellor’s Bridge to the Future website
    • Proposal leads will work with colleagues in the Office of the Chancellor to capture photos, videos, and other materials related to the event, activity, or initiative.
  • A brief written summary report (one-two pages) will be requested from each proposal lead by Monday, July 31, 2023; these summaries will be posted to the chancellor’s Bridge to the Future website, and may be shared, in full or in part, with donors to the Chancellor’s Circle.
    • Template will be provided to awardees.

    • In-person Orientation Workshop on developing fund proposals
    • 12-1 p.m. in Lilly Auditorium, University Library
