Dear Jaguars,
We have reached the end of our second week of classes. I've been on campus every day so far, wearing my mask, of course, and I'm not the only one. Our faculty, staff, students, and visitors continue to keep each other safe, wearing their masks and practicing safe physical distancing.
Our testing numbers tell the story of our semester so far. Unlike other universities that have had to go online or pause because of large numbers of positive COVID-19 cases, as of this moment, of all the results received IUPUI has a total of five positive cases out of hundreds of mitigation tests administered since the beginning of the semester on August 24. The individuals testing positive have been isolated, their contacts are being traced, and we wish them the speediest of recoveries. We also appreciate the seriousness with which members of our community are abiding by instructions to isolate and quarantine. So far, the comprehensive testing program at IUPUI, which includes weekly mitigation testing, is working. For more information about the latest numbers, which will include the remaining results of this week's test, please visit the IU COVID-19 Testing Dashboard.
None of this is easy, and I recognize that you are making sacrifices every day. And it's clearly paying off at IUPUI. Let's keep up the good work and not take a break from taking care of each other. Keep wearing your masks, stay physically distanced but socially connected, and clean up your spaces. If you feel sick, stay home and schedule a virtual IU Health visit.
As we look forward to the day a vaccine is available, let’s live up to our campus's reputation as a place where Jaguars take care of their families.
Sincerely,
Nasser H. Paydar
