At IUPUI, we deeply value our international students, faculty, and staff, whose presence and contributions add immeasurably to our campus and who are friends, colleagues, and vital members of our community. With diversity and inclusion among our core values, IUPUI remains strongly committed to supporting all of our students, faculty, and staff, and providing an education enriched by multiple perspectives to as many people as possible.
ICE's new visa policy does not align with IUPUI's core values as a diverse and inclusive campus. That new policy requires that non-resident, international students be forced to leave the U.S. or transfer to another college if their schools operate entirely online this fall.
We recognize that this policy change has stirred immeasurable anxiety for international students and their families, and we are proud that we are here to support them during this challenging time
Part of that support will come through our plans to provide maximum flexibility in terms of course delivery options for the fall 2020 semester. This will provide all of our students, including our international students, multiple learning modes, including a combination of in-person and online classes. We are pleased that our careful planning that has put student needs at the forefront has resulted in our offering international students the course mode delivery options that they need to meet the adjusted visa requirements.
We will continue to advocate for our international students and colleagues and will keep the lines of communication open to share policy changes, resources, and updates. For more information, I would encourage international students and others to visit our Office of International Affairs FAQ for Fall 2020.
IUPUI will remain committed to supporting our international students, faculty, and staff as we act upon our campus’s strongest values and work together to help all of our students succeed.
