IU 2030
September 21, 2022
Dear Colleagues,
In her weekly message to the Indiana University community, President Pamela Whitten announced a strategic plan framework that serves as the launch of a university-wide, individual campus-based planning initiative. This framework will serve all IU campuses, providing a unified approach to strategic planning. Individual campuses will integrate their existing strategic planning work into this new framework.
IU 2030 is a university-wide blueprint that includes three pillars:
- Student success and opportunity: We will attract, retain, and graduate students who receive an extraordinary and affordable education, and provide them with immersive experiences that elevate them among their peers in the workplace and beyond.
- Transformative research and creativity: We will shape tomorrow’s world with innovation that springs from a unique combination of research, discovery, entrepreneurship, and knowledge generation in all spheres of endeavor.
- Service to our state and beyond: We will strengthen and serve our state and its communities, always striving to improve the quality of life for all Hoosiers. We will enhance the vitality of our state and nation, and of our individual communities, creating a truly global impact.
A special site has been established for the university framework, and I encourage you to review it and learn more about IU’s bold plans for our third century. I am energized by the ambitious goals set forth related to student success, research, and service to our respective communities.
While many voices contributed to this strategic planning framework, we are truly just getting started, and the work ahead will require your individual and collective support.
At IUPUI, our efforts to shape our plan will play a critical role in our campus's future as we prepare to unveil all campus plans in March 2023.
What can you expect to see, and take part in, at IUPUI related to IU 2030?
As we have in the past, our initiatives and ideas are aligned with broader university goals, and this coordination will continue with the IU 2030 framework. To build on that framework, we will convene a strategic executive committee and establish three planning committees focused on the core areas above. Subcommittees will be created to advance planning activity as well as seek input from campus stakeholders. We are in the process of finalizing subcommittee membership and will be sharing that information soon. The IUPUI strategic plan will be integrated with Vision 2024 planning for the realignment of Indiana University and Purdue University programs.
I look forward to working alongside you as our plan takes shape and will share updates via IUPUI Today and the IU 2030 page on the IUPUI Strategic Plan website.
Sincerely,
Andrew R. Klein
Interim Chancellor
