Michael Young was first elected as State Senator in 2000, representing Senate District 35, which includes portions of Johnson, Marion and Morgan counties. Previously he served as a member of the Indiana House of Representatives from 1986 to 2000 and as a member of the Marion County Board of Zoning Appeals.
Senator Young currently serves on the Senate Committees on Commerce, Economic Development and Technology; Corrections and Criminal Law; CHR (Corrections Subcommittee); and Judiciary (Probate Code and Trusts Subcommittee). He is also involved with the Wayne Township GOP and the Decatur Township GOP.
Senator Young received a B.A. in history from the IU School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI and earned his J.D. from the IU Robert H. McKinney School of Law. He has also been honored by the Indiana State Employees as Legislator of the Year.
