Melina Kennedy serves as the director of executive communications at Cummins Inc. Prior to her appointment, Kennedy concentrated her practice at Baker & Daniels on public finance, economic development, and environmental matters.
Before joining Baker & Daniels, Kennedy served as deputy mayor for Indianapolis Mayor Bart Peterson. As deputy mayor, she supervised the Departments of Public Works and Metropolitan Development, which together have more than 900 employees and a budget of nearly $200 million, and counseled the mayor on a variety of issues relating to municipal government and economic development. She was director of economic development for the city from 2001 to 2004.
Kennedy received her bachelor’s degree in environmental studies and history, her master’s degree in environmental science, and her law degree from Indiana University Bloomington. She currently serves on the board of directors of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and Legacy House and is a member of the Butler Business Accelerator Advisory Board.
