David L. Johnson was elected president and CEO of the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP), a regional strategic collaboration of business leaders and university presidents, in December 2012. He also continues to serve as president of CICP’s BioCrossroads life sciences initiative.
Johnson has been engaged with CICP for more than a decade as one of the original organizers and the founding chief executive of BioCrossroads, a market-based enterprise focused on collaboration and strategic investments for growing Indiana’s life sciences sector. Among its many activities, BioCrossroads informs and educates, raises and invests venture capital funds in promising new companies, and builds business collaborations by bridging gaps across academia and industry. Through his work at BioCrossroads, Johnson has been responsible for raising more than $300 million dollars in philanthropic, corporate, and venture capital funding to advance new companies, promote innovative research, and deliver on the promise of highly skilled twenty-first-century employment opportunities for Hoosiers.
Previously he was a partner in the Indianapolis-based law firm of Baker & Daniels for nearly 20 years, advising corporate and public sector clients on issues of economic development, public and project financing, and capital formation.
Johnson is an honors graduate of Harvard University, Harvard Law School, and Oxford University, where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar.
